Mr San Ha Kim (South Korea)

The Australian National University, ANU, I’ve always dreamt to be part of the success story of this great citadel of learning. ANU College is the bridge in succeeding this dream. It efficiently helps me to build sufficient foundation to go to ANU.
Just after two semesters at ANU College, my span of knowledge has broadened and my mind has stretched. As I am Korean who spent high school years in Cambodia, I had been “spoon-fed” the education. However, the experience at ANU College is completely different. The courses and the teachers have encouraged and driven me to question everything and to think critically, which are essential in university learning.
My life at ANU College is amazingly beautiful. I have met so many nice, warm, and approaching friends and teachers. Therefore, adapting to this new environment wasn’t hard at all. I’ve also encountered friends from different countries from whom I learnt about the amazing new cultures. The teachers are extremely supportive and helpful making class-experience interesting and insightful.
Mr Ian Lee (Singapore)

Studying at ANU College has equipped and reinforced the necessary writing skills to be successful in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at ANU. Subjects such as Critical Thinking and Reasoning, 20th Century history and Australian Studies have gone a long way in allowing me to contextualise and understand some references made in courses at ANU. Sociology also provided me with a firm grounding in the basic concepts so that I had an advantage over most students doing sociology for the first time at university, allowing me to develop a more nuanced understanding of the major theories in the discipline. The Academic English courses ensured that I had the necessary referencing and research skills, and a better appreciation of the expectations of university lecturers with regards to the presentation of an essay.
Living in Canberra overall has been an adventure, filled with friendship, surprises and tranquillity. Canberra offers a plethora of options for museum lovers and outdoorsmen. For the museum-goer, the National Gallery holds regular exhibitions of great artwork; the War Memorial is a celebration of the courage of Australians at war, and the National Museum is an architectural curio, but a tribute to the history of this nation. Mount Ainslie and Mount Majura provide some decent walks within the vicinity of the city for the hikers.
Ms Huyen (Peah) Nguyen (Vietnam)

Studying at ANU College has been an interesting and memorable experience. With the help of teachers and friends, I have gained essential knowledge and useful skills in preparation for ANU.
The ANU College Foundation Program offers a wide variety of courses to well-equip international students for their future studies at ANU. Some of these courses include Critical Thinking, Algebra, Sociology, Psychology, Chemistry, basically courses relevant to the degrees which students wish to undertake later on. I particularly enjoyed History and Statistics, subjects which till then, I had not taken much interest in. This is greatly thanks to the help of my teachers, who were amazing and helped me through all the problems I faced. All the teachers at ANU College were wonderful, I learnt a lot from them.
At ANU College, I met people from many other countries. It was a great experience, learning together, getting to know their cultures, and adapting to the lifestyle in Australia.
Many people feel that Canberra is an ideal place to pursue their academic goals. It is quiet and peaceful. Most feel that there are few distractions in this city, which makes it easier to stay in focus.
In the future, I aim to complete a double degree at ANU and find a suitable employment in Australia.
Mr Damirzhan Kalikov (Kazakhstan)

Besides ANU’s ranking, very high level of teaching at ANU College played a big role. The connection between ANU and ANU College also helps adapt to university life which is an important advantage..
Canberra is a safe and peaceful city. The fact that ANU is placed in the heart of Canberra brings an opportunity for ANU students to be involved in many activities in the city. My main goal is to successfully complete my study at ANU.
Ms Bi Ning Gao (China)

Not only can I learn many useful things which help me a lot in the university, but also I make many good friends and learn how to study and live well in Australia. Teachers here are very patient and experienced. Thanks to them, I can find my feet in the new place so quickly.
ANU College Foundation Studies Program is a very good program and the subjects meet our needs. I got very good marks in my subjects and I am very happy and satisfied about it.
Canberra is a place which is very suitable for our study. Comparing with Sydney and Melbourne, Canberra is a quiet and peaceful place. We can focus on our study and not be distracted.
I live in a share house with my best friends. We cook together and go shopping together. On many traditional Chinese festivals and my friends’ birthday, we usually have parties. These activities help me overcome the loneliness and homesick. I want to study Commerce and get a bachelor of Commerce."
Mr Ihsan Nurviandi (Indonesia)

I chose ANU mainly because of its good reputation. As the highest ranking university in Australia, surely ANU will have a lot to offer to me and I really want to be part of ANU’s good education. In order to get there, I need to develop myself further and ANU College is a really good place for that. I can prepare myself here.
I am in my second semester at ANU College, I think my course is going really well. I really enjoy studying here as all teachers and staff are really supportive to the students and it has created a good atmosphere for studying. The subjects are amazing, they are very interesting. I get many new things to learn here at ANU College.
Some people say that Canberra is not an interesting place to live. The city is quiet, however I think that is the advantage of living in Canberra, one can focus more to study.
Currently I am sharing house with other students and it is very exciting to live with other people from different countries. After graduating from ANU, I am really looking forward to continue my study in Australia and take an MBA degree.
