"The reputation and quality of teaching at ANU, as well as the number of Nobel Prize winners, were the most important factors in my choosing to study in an institution always listed amongst the top 100 universities in the world.
It was also relatively easy to gain entrance to ANU College. My time at ANU College was happy and relaxed, with less pressure than in China, although this did not mean learning less. More open education meant students carrying greater responsibility for their own learning, as well as researching for themselves. Understanding and depth of knowledge was achieved through open exchanges of ideas in class. Helpful teachers were always prepared to give extra tutorials. History in particular was most useful, teaching about Western culture, especially Australia. As well, excursions to national institutions made learning more real. ANU College is a most satisfying experience. Canberra is a quiet city, encouraging concentration on study, while the city's fine infrastructure permits relaxation in a range of sports. Living in Homestay accommodation was a very special experience, my friendly hosts helping me understand Australia. My ultimate dream is to graduate successfully from ANU and work on Wall Street." |
