Finding a place to live is often a concern for international students. Homestay accommodation gives the student the opportunity to live with an Australian family as part of their study experience and relieves the students of the burden of arranging private rental accommodation. ANU College contracts the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) to manage Homestay placements for its students. All Homestay hosts associated with AHN have been screened, and are required to undergo training in order to provide a higher level of service, and comfort, to the student.
Students staying in Homestay are provided with their own furnished room and 3 meals per day, 7 days a week (N.B. breakfast and lunch may be self-service at some homes). Bed linen, towels, and use of gas, electricity and water are also included within the Homestay fee. Telephone and internet costs are additional.
The minimum period for Homestay is 4 weeks, and students are required to pay their Homestay fees in advance following which they will receive confirmation of their Homestay placement.
