General English / English for Academic Purposes |

This course focuses on the general English skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. These skills enable students to function well in an English speaking environment and provide English skills for work and travel. Students at Intermediate level and above have the opportunity to join the Academic English class which prepares students for study at the undergraduate or graduate level. The preparation will include:
- Reading academic material;
- Expressing understanding of ideas through speaking and writing;
- Understanding lectures;
- Thinking critically about ideas heard and read.

AU$1850.00 per 5 week module 2011 TUITION FEE*AU$2695.00 per 7 week module *From 2011, duration of a module will be 7 weeks. ENTRY REQUIREMENTSStudents must be at least 17 years old before they begin their studies at ANU College. ANU College accepts students demonstrating a "pre-intermediate" level of English (approximately IELTS equivalent of 4.0) or above. At 9:00am students will complete a reading and writing placement test.
At approximately 11:00am a staff member of ANU College will take students on a walking tour of the ANU campus. In the afternoon students will go on a free bus tour of Canberra returning to ANU College at approximately 3:00pm.
