The course focuses on the English skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. They build on the students’ basic English capability to better enable them to function more confidently in an English-speaking environment.
Students at intermediate level and above may be considered for the AEP which prepares students for direct entry to the ANU College Foundation Studies program.
Preparation will include:
- reading academic material
- understandting lectures
- expressing understanding of ideas through speaking and writing
- thinking critically about ideas heard and read
Earch student must achieve a score of 60% or more to successfully complete each level of AEP. No additional IELTS is required to progress to the ANUC Foundation Studies program or the ANU Access English course.

To be eligible to attend English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Courses, prospective students must:
- Have an IELTS of 4.5 (minimum 4.0 in each band)
